- marveling at yet more 14th century buildings
- sipping espressos with water (don't call it a cafe americano)
- watering Adriana's new plants
- reading more about Sudan
- etc.
Here's a scenic shot of the city, with the Charles Bridge in the background:
I'm brushing up on my language skills, and have learned something like 40 new Slovak words. Czech and Slovak are such similar languages, though, I guess I can count 80 new foreign words (a true feat for a monolingual American)!
In addition to being a wonderfully scenic town, Prague is also a great walking city. We've covered a few marathons worth of kilometers just wandering around, and I've discovered a new-found taste for klobassa (Czech sausage) and sauerkraut to compensate for the caloric expenditure. Also, George was in town this weekend, visiting from Vienna where he is interning at UNIDO, so we caught up on what's new over (more) klobassa, potato dumplings and beer, and... walked around for hours.
In any event, this marks the first post of our new blog, intended to share experiences from our internships and travel this summer. Feel free to post whatever strikes your fancy, and be sure to tag each post with a descriptive label so we can easily follow a common category of posts (eg, "Team Liberia"; "IFC/World Bank"; "International NGO").
I hope this finds everyone well, and happy blogging!
